about river of life

The Ministry of Helps at River of Life Christian Fellowship is the consolidation of various groups of born-again, Spirit-filled individuals. These groups form a nucleus surrounding the Pastor and his assistants, to aid them in meeting the operational demands of the ministry, and meeting the spiritual needs of the people who participate in the worship, study and social activities of River of Life.

Childrens' Ministry

The childrens' church ministry is designed to teach the Word of God to children from kindergarten through the sixth grade.

The vision for the Children's Church Ministry is to see children grow strong in character and in the things of God. We desire them to receive an overview of the Bible, as well as a revelation of God and His love. In addition, we desire the children to learn the move of the Spirit through anointed worship services conducted on their level.

Each service starts with praise & worship to teach and train the children how to worship God. We then teach practical Bible principles from the Word of God for application in their daily lives. Drama, puppets, object lessons, and stories are all used to support the sermon theme for each service. Altar calls are also given where children can receive salvation, the infilling of the Holy Spirit, healing and prayer.

We believe there is nothing more exciting than to see children responding to the Holy Spirit, speaking the Word, and worshiping God.

On every fourth Sunday of the month we have the Holy Ghost Cooking Academy which: aligns the Word of God with each lesson, strengthens children's reading and math comprehension, teaches safety skills in the kitchen at home, strengthens hand-eye coordination, strengthens a child's ability to follow directions and make observations as well as increase their creativity.

College & Career

The college and career ministry is designed to reach adults, 18 years and older, who are college and/or career oriented, in order to:

  • Provide an atmosphere to come together for worship, prayer and fellowship.
  • Offer beneficial information for individuals' career lifestyles; such as guest speakers, resumé workshops, job fairs, college information, and much more.
  • Provide activities, trips and retreats that promote Christian excitement and fun.
Marriage Ministry

This ministry is conducted for the benefit of engaged, newly married and any other married couples who desire to enrich the marital relationship.

Men's Ministry

The purpose of the men's ministry is to create a strong bond of brotherhood and solidarity among the men of River of Life Christian Fellowship. It is to enhance their spiritual growth by fellowship and communication with one another. We also strive to assist men in understanding their position as men of God in the Body of Christ, at home, on the job, and in the community.

All adult male members of River of Life, 18 years and older, are automatically members of the men's fellowship, and all male visitors are cordially invited to participate in the men's fellowship activities; including their monthly meetings and the Annual Men's Luncheon.

Nursery Ministry

The purpose of the Nursery is to provide a safe, comfortable atmosphere in which children, ages six weeks to two years, may be supervised. This allows their parents the opportunity to give their undivided attention to worship and study of the Word at Sunday worship services and mid-week Bible studies.

The Nursery Department endeavors to meet both the spiritual and physical needs of the children during this time of their care, as well as act as an extension of the parents' training, through a curriculum designed to enhance the children's spiritual growth and development.

Singles' Ministry: "In the Know with the Flow"

The purpose of this fellowship is:

  • To minister to those members who are unmarried for any reason: single parent, widowed, divorced, never been married or separated.
  • To clearly identify and define the role of singles in the Body of Christ through Word-based group discussions, workshops and seminars.
  • To provide members the opportunity to minister the Word to other singles in the Body of Christ by using their talents and gifts from God.
  • To give singles the opportunity to share testimonies and experiences that would encourage and help build the faith of other singles.

The River of Life Singles' Ministry is to provide an atmosphere of fellowship and instruction for personal growth through God’s Word.

River of Life Singles' Ministry meets for social activities and fellowships each month. The activities are a great way to meet other Christian singles and to share with those who have the same interests, and beliefs. If you need a friend, want to grow in Christ, want a place to share, or just want to have a great time of fellowship with other Christian singles, then River of Life Singles' Ministry is just for you!

If you have any questions regarding River of Life Singles' Ministry, please call Miss Garnetta King at 510-869-5239 or email us at rolcf@pacbell.net. We look forward to seeing you at our next fellowship.

Women's Ministry

The purpose of the women's fellowship is to provide an avenue for added spiritual support and social interaction for the women of the church. This is accomplished through fellowship meetings and special events.

All adult female members of River of Life, at least 16 years of age, are automatically members of the women's fellowship. Meetings and sponsored activities are open to all female visitors of the church and friends of the women's fellowship.

The major service components of the women's fellowships are the committees. There are also interest groups that provide opportunities for exchange and added fellowship around common goals.

Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry at River of Life Christian Fellowship is involved with ministering to needs of youth, 7th through 12th grades (or approximately ages 12-18).

On a weekly basis the youth receive teaching on the basics of faith, healing, salvation, as well as pertinent subjects for career goals, hygiene, adolescence such as dating, sex drugs, rock music, rebellion and peer pressure. Youth are in a transformation stage. They need attention and direction on how to transform the selfish, shyness of childhood into a mature love for a lost and dying world. We assist in this transformation by providing times of intercession, and participation in the outreach department (street witnessing, puppet ministry, flyer distribution, etc.)

Youth are very active physically, therefore we provide many exciting activities throughout the year such as sports, picnics, amusement park outings, camping, horseback riding, concerts, and bowling. Advances (retreats), overnighters, and youth rallies, in addition to our regular weekly meetings provide opportunities for spiritual and social growth.

Ongoing leadership training equips the youth to assist in the regular meetings as well as other areas within the church.

We see in Acts 2:17, that young people are important members of the end-time army of God. We are committed to minister to the needs of youth: spirit, soul, and body; allowing them to develop into men and women of God and leaders in the Body of Christ.
